Hotel Bella Luna - Open for Business
Hotel Bella Luna is open and ready for business!
Lachlan is thrilled to be part of this unpredictable interactive experience - equal parts escape room, soap opera and 60s SciFi. The whole show is improvised from start to finish, with the story progressing wherever the guests are willing to take it!
Here are snippets from one review already (Chuck Moore Reviews):
Grin out loud, bright and delightful, and set on a lunar hotel, “Hotel Bella Luna” is a play full of play – by both the creators and, if they choose (and you probably will), the audience. Ponydog and Jetpack Theatre recreate the entire Flight Path Theatre as guess-which/where hotel, sticking in characters from the moment the guests check in (and you should) – nervous bellhop Dennis, trying to be a Lunar Scout; chirpy bellhop Chevon, a long way from her Irish home; and not-friends in mysterious American hero/ entrepreneur and the hotels (scene stealing and sweet) robot Mars-3000. Suddenly disaster strikes, when an airlock opens and most people and systems get an unplanned space walk. Oh dear. Those who are left need to problem solve to save the hotel and themselves. Or should they reach out to the mysterious hotel owner? You choose. Literally. Part Play School “have fun and problem solve” vibe, part onstage video game with side missions and puzzles set to a 1960s sci-fi tech setting; and completely adorable. With a tone of pantomime and smiling rediscovery of a much loved childhood story or cartoon series, and minus the completion agro of a puzzle room, audiences can choose to sit back and watch with a safety badge– but even they will probably find themselves getting involved since it’s all so entertaining. The very first show - Amy elected as the casting vote, families being created, and sing-along-s to melt certain character’s heart (and get what the station needs) - will never be seen exactly the same way again. And that’s the point and part of the appeal. At each step, in each performance, the decisions made will change the outcome and story, and the agile performers dance the show along based on those choices. Perfect for soco-disto/Covid (enforced: so relax), safe fun time with fellow humans (or just to watch them with a smile on your face), this is addictive and comes highly recommended… including for repeat attendances.
